Indefinite Adjectives
Example 1
Algum, alguma, alguns, algumas are indefinite adjetives:
Há algum dinheiro sobrando? - Is there any money left?
Sim, há algum dinheiro sobrando. - Yes, there is some money left.
Sim, há algum. - Yes, there is some.
Example 2
Eu tenho alguns livros sobre isso. - I have some books about that.
Sim, eu tenho alguns - Yes, I have some --> (Note that “alguns” means that I have more than one book.)
Example 3
Não tenho nenhum livro sobre isso - I don't have any books about that.
Não tenho nenhum livro sobre isso - I have no books about that.
Example 4
You can use “alguns” when you need say “some”...
Você gostaria de comer alguns sanduíches? - Would you like to eat some sandwiches?
The word “qualquer” can be translated to “any”
Você pode levar qualquer livro que precisar - You may take any book you need.
Indefinite Pronouns
Somebody, anybody, nobody = alguém (all words are exactly the same thing in portuguese).
Something = algo, alguma coisa.
Somewhere, anywhere = algum lugar.
Nowhere = lugar nenhum or nenhum lugar.

JOHN: Claro que sim.

2. May, Might
Ele pode ir? - May he go?
Ele poderia estar ocupado? - Might he be busy?
3. Must, Have to
Você precisa obedecer a lei! - You must obey the law!
Ela não veio à escola. Ela deve estar doente. - She has not come to school. She must be ill.
Você precisa tomar seu remédio. - You must take your medicine.
Ele precisa copiar o relatório? - He must copy the report?
Não, ele não precisa copiá-lo. - No, he doesn't have to copy it.
